March is the month which brightens our lives. Spring is eagerly waiting to show off its feathers and the days are becoming longer with a final boost with the arrival of the Daylight Savings Time. This year March is also the host for Easter, the annual holiday for eggs and bunnies.
Being a Norwegian I have a quite different idea of Easter than most English people. My idea of Easter, rooted in my childhood, is being on a top of a mountain on my awkward cross country skis trailing my eager mother and praying it’s time for a rest. At this point I get rewarded with an Orange and a kvikklunsj-chocolate, which is like a Kit Kat but it's also the Norwegian national outdoor snack. I also have fond memories of being stuck on a mountain cabin drinking hot chocolate and painting eggs in pretty colours, with snowy wind pounding the windows.
In this Easter ritual of saying farewell to the Winter, I wish I could plough through the streets of London on my 15 year old pair of cross country skis. That would be better than any Easter egg!
